A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

This is a prototype for a survival horror game centered around fast movement. As of now (5-11-2022), there is only a movement demo, but in the future, I plan on updating this and turning it into a real game.

Preliminary info

Right now, the project is a bit of a mess, so all of the files are in one .zip file.

To start, make sure you select the correct .zip file for your system. Note that the Game Jam submission is Linux only, since I never made a Windows build proper. All current builds have a Windows or Linux version available

Installation Guide

To start, download the current build for your system. You may be prompted to either open or save this file:

Make sure to select "Save File". This will put it in your Downloads folder, or whichever folder you have set as your browser's default downloads folder.

Once it completes the download, you can navigate to where the downloaded file is and extract it into a folder of your choice.

Running it is a matter of double clicking on the executable called "Abandon All Hope".

If on Linux, the game might be titled "Game_Executable.x86_64", this is the game launcher in question:

To run it, simply navigate to the folder in the terminal, and type './Game_Executable.x86_64' without quotes. If it says "Permission denied", type in the following command (without quotes): sudo chmod u+x Game_Executable.x86_64

That will give the game executable the proper permissions to launch.

To exit the game, hit Escape on the keyboard.

(NOTE: as of 5-11-2022, I have not tested the Windows version outside of WINE, so if there are issues that prevent the game from behaving normally, i.e. frequent crashes, lockups, etc, let me know and I will try and fix it when I can, and provide an updated build)
